Discord Invites!
about 6 years ago – Thu, Mar 22, 2018 at 04:02:26 PM

Here is the link to our Discord server.

https://discord.gg/AQABVZZ

We're going to cancel this link after about a week. If you still haven't joined, just send us a message and we'll invite you. We thought that it would be easiest to use a Kickstarter update, instead of sending you all a link personally.

To get your role assigned, message StarmancerBot. Use the command !roleme, followed by your email address.

An example would be:

"!roleme [email protected]"

Each email can only be used once.

Please let us know if you have any issues with the bot.

Thanks!

$139,695--Close Enough
about 6 years ago – Sat, Mar 17, 2018 at 02:16:38 AM

We managed to raise $139,685. We're just shy of that last stretch goal, but we'll round up. It counts as $140,000 to us.

Xeno confirmed.

I want to thank everyone for all of this support.

We first announced Starmancer over a year ago. No one had ever heard of us.

We didn't know if we'd fail. We didn't know if anyone would even like the idea.

We've been working really hard to create something you'll enjoy.

Thank you all

I'm turning off my computer now. We'll be back on Monday. We need to sleep and go outside.

p.s. BlindiRL was our very first Patron. That's really cool. Go raid his stream.

5 Hours Left!
about 6 years ago – Fri, Mar 16, 2018 at 07:11:26 PM

There's only 5 hours left!

This is your last chance to spread the word or change your pledge!

Everyone tell 1 person about the campaign and we can reach the Xeno goal!

Contest Winners
about 6 years ago – Fri, Mar 16, 2018 at 01:00:22 AM

Thanks for participating in the contest everyone,

Winners get to design a mission and they get the game for free (including Alpha/Beta access).

We chose 3 categories for winning:

1.) Best Garden
2.) Fanciest Station
3.) Most Unique Station

Best Garden

The winner of best garden is Craig Wadman

We really love attention to detail.

This station has "changing rooms" for entering and leaving the garden (complete with contraband checkpoints). It also has a really interesting use of wall vents, with the water leading to a "recycling center".

Fanciest Station

The winner of fanciest station is Zio.

Just like with best garden, we really loved the attention to detail here. Zio essentially made a fancy little house. It even has a functional kitchen.

Zio actually submitted stations for all 3 categories, and they were all really good.

Most Unique Station

The winner of most unique station is minami26

Minami made a...battle school.

It even has a battle arena.

Random Winner

We also chose one entry to randomly win. Specifically, we assigned a number to each entry and used a random number generator to select the winner.

The winner was Seven324

Notable Entries

Selecting a winner for each category was really difficult.

Here are some other really good stations:

Frost Aegis made a really interesting fancy station. It even has some sort of "shrine" or church devoted to the Starmancer.

Gremdavel made a really cool garden centered around a Starmancer core. We especially enjoyed having a Starmancer in the center of a garden (We were really torn between choosing this garden and Craig's).

Caleb DeWitt made a castle. It was really interesting to see the colony not in space. The attention to detail in this station was really nice. You can see servant's quarters and a grand dining hall.

Zio (the winner of fanciest) also made a really unique station. It's a tribute to Phantasy Star 4. It's interesting to see the stations in non-space settings (I know I'm repeating this).

Thanks everyone!

Final 36 hours! New stretch goal!
about 6 years ago – Fri, Mar 16, 2018 at 01:00:06 AM

We're in the final 36 hours of the campaign! Don't forget to share the campaign on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Real Life, wherever.

We just hit $120k, so we'll be able to add robots!

Devblog - Colonist Needs

We wrote a devblog about colonist needs, you can check it out here:

https://www.playstarmancer.com/devblog/2018/3/15/devblog-4-colonist-needs

Next Stretch Goal - Xenos

Our next stretch goal is focused around Aliens. There will be old Xeno ruins that you can explore and scavenge.

The intent of this stretch goal is to add new technology and resources. So an upgraded version of the reactor, better healing objects, and brand new crops.

We'll also be adding a new colonist body that can be grown in tanks.

You'll unlock all of these objects by interacting with the Xenos, researching technologies, and completing quests.

Oh ya, there'll be a Xenomorph style monster that hatches from an egg and hunts down your colonists. It will use the air vents to move around the station. The monster will be the first pass at having independent entities in the colony. It will be laying the groundwork for the Doomsday update.

New Stretch Goal - Multiplayer

We realize that this stretch goal might not be met, but it was our next planned stretch goal.

You'll be able to play in the same Solar System as your friend (not the same station). We're not sure how many friends you'll be able to play with at the same time.

You can visit your friend's station. Our intent is for you to be a drone or a robot on the station. The first pass will be real-time viewing. The second pass will allow you to physically walk around the other station as a robot. You could help your friend grow crops and do whatever else a colonist can do. You could even fight off pirates.

In addition to visiting, you'll also be able to trade resources and colonists. You could send a crazy colonist to your friend's station, for example.

Multiplayer is something that we want to implement sooner rather than later. These games are so much more fun to play with friends.

Thanks everyone!

Don't forget to share the campaign on social media (and anywhere else).
